Food for thought; pairing in BIGBANG

“Most of us here are constantly “shipping” the Big Bang members together as G-RI, G-TOP, or TODAE (etc.) almost every day of our lives without even realizing it too much. Most of us pair the members up for fun because they look so close (or “in love”) with each other because of their excessive skin shipping or interactions. But what most of us don’t seem to be aware of is that the BIGBANG members don’t really appreciate the types of coupling/shipping we do with them. Like the KVIP stated, there was a time when a fan shouted out, “NYONGTORY!” (the Korean equivalent for G-RI) at a promotional event Big Bang was at and all the members except Daesung became extremely stiff and uncomfortable. Daesung chuckled a little awkwardly, but it was quite obvious that he only laughed to break the tense atmosphere of the members.

 

Big Bang has actually been known to be a group that dislikes hardcore coupling/shipping. Especially TOP, Taeyang, and G-Dragon. When Taeyang tweeted about “Double dragon” and “GDYB”, he meant it in a brotherly way. Taeyang and G-Dragon are known for disliking these couplings the most because to them, being paired up with another member means being paired up as a “unit” or “collaboration”. They don’t want our definition of shipping to come in the way of their definition of being “paired up”. See what I’m saying? lol. What many international fans don’t know is that in Korea, a lot of the shipping that is done is meant in a sexual way. Not brotherly/best friend kind of skipping, but sexual/lover type of shipping. We also have a good amount of sexual/lover shippers in the international fandom as well. But anyway, Big Bang is well aware of the sexual shipping fans are doing with them. How? Because there have been incidents during their early career where fans would print out fanfics of Big Bang couplings (sexual and nonsexual) and gift it to them as presents. Not knowing what these stacks of paper are, they end up reading about themselves having sexual interactions with each other in the stories. Just like how all of us are human and can feel ashamed or embarrassed about these things, Big Bang can feel uncomfortable about themselves being paired up together as well. To the Big Bang members, terms like Nyongtory, Toptory, Nyongbae, Topsung, merely used to be nicknames that were tolerable until they found out it was being used for sexual shipping.

 

In the comments posted by the KVIP on Big Bang Updates, she states how Korean VIPs don’t use Big Bang coupling names at all anymore, but she is implying that they do not use it around the members anymore. They still talk about shipping/coupling on their personal blogs and twitter accounts and spazz about it together, but it is no longer being spoken about around Big Bang. Fans do not suddenly yell out, “Topsung!” or “Nyongbae!” at Big Bang anymore to respect the members’ feelings. Fans don’t print out copies of Big Bang coupling fanfics and send them to the members anymore. My take on this? I think it’s fine to ship and pair the members together on your own or with other fans, but I don’t think it’s okay when we tweet or message them on twitter and me2day about these couplings.

 

Not only does this have to do with the sexual shipping, but it also reflects on support as a whole. Fansites like choigoseunghyun, utopia, kangdaesung.com, gdsupporters, and individual member fancafes forbid fans of using coupling terms because it may show that you do not respect and support each individual member as himself, but only as some “couple”. It is included in the site rules not to mention coupling names as well.

 

So in conclusion, on behalf of other KVIPs, try not to mention or bring up these coupling/shipping terms directly to the Big Bang members. It’s okay to have fun and ship them on your own :) But don’t remind the members that they are being paired up together. Even if your intentions are good and you’re just pairing them up in a family/brotherly way, Big Bang can still take it in the wrong way and it could put them in an uncomfortable state of mind. So respect their feelings! ^^ There’s no need for us to bring them into our methods of fangirling.  We can have fun with all this on our own while keeping Big Bang happy and oblivious. LOL.”

Some people are really gullible as hell.

This Daesung stuff is getting out of control. 

1. That one chick on Twitter likes to cause shit. Why? Because it’s hella fun to get fangirls riled up after a win for BIGBANG. She isn’t a Directioner nor is she a fan of anything. In other words, she is a troll.
2. Do you think that Britney fucking Spears would have any fucking idea who Daesung, let alone BIGBANG are? I follow that woman on Twitter and there is a verification process for a reason. It’s to weed out the fakes. It’s obvious that the Britney that you’re bashing about is not her. 

Please think about these things. It really hurts me to see VIPs bashing Directioners AND Britney Spears just for some screenshot from a VIP. LOOK IT UP. MAKE SURE THAT IT’S ACTUALLY A HATER AND IT’S ACTUALLY BRITNEY SPEARS. 

Don’t believe in everything you guys. This is the internet for God’s sake. You should learn by now that these things are just ways of bringing us down. 

And stop being so butthurt about it. Let it go and don’t give any fucks or damns anymore. The VIP fandom is not a butthurt fandom. Period.

We won but let’s celebrate with some respect and dignity. When BIGBANG won did they go, “IN YO FACE” to all of those who didn’t win? No.

So let’s adopt that. For them.

I really hurts and depresses me to see people hating on BIGBANG instead of congratulating them. Just because you say these things doesn’t mean the votes are going to change. BIGBANG won because there are people out there who are smart enough to tell the difference between murder and an accident.

People will always talk bad about BIGBANG. They have the third most ANTI-CAFES right after SNSD and 2PM. 

What matters is that they don’t care. All they care about is the present and the future ahead. Nothing can stop them. Nothing WILL stop them. It’s a price of fame; everybody will have to face their haters no matter what.

What we can do as a fandom is to be like them. Just ignore and support them through everything.

VIPS are not worrying nor fighting the enemy. We’re not fighting because there is no use. We’ve always been a quiet bunch, and never will you see us fighting WORDS WITH WORDS. We fight the enemies with loyalty and patience and love, and it has always worked. Hatred will pass, but fierce loyalty and support? Never.
